The Edinburgh International Festival brings audiences and artists together from all over the world
For three weeks in August, Scotland’s capital becomes an unparalleled celebration of the performing arts and an annual meeting point for people of all nations. Every year, the International Festival present a programme featuring finest performers and ensembles from the worlds of dance, opera, music and theatre.
In 1999, the Festival opened a new central box office and information centre in The Hub, a converted church on Castlehill, directly below Edinburgh Castle. Originally built as the Tolbooth Church (1842-44) to house the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, its tall gothic spire is the highest point in central Edinburgh (outside of the Castle) and a landmark visible for miles around.
The Edinburgh International Festival was brought forward to coincide with the Fringe in 2015.
